Privacy Policy

Overview

FastShare is built with privacy as a core principle. We don't require accounts, don't track individual users, and automatically delete all uploaded files after their expiration period. This policy explains exactly what data we handle and why.

1. Information We Collect

FastShare collects the minimum data necessary to operate the service:

• Uploaded files: Stored temporarily in encrypted object storage until expiration. Files are uploaded directly to storage — they do not pass through our application servers.
• File metadata: File names, sizes, and types are stored to display download information. This metadata is deleted when the share expires.
• IP addresses: Temporarily processed for rate limiting and abuse prevention. Not stored in logs or databases beyond the duration of the request.
• Country-level location: Derived from IP addresses for aggregate analytics (e.g., "X downloads from Germany"). No city-level or precise location data is collected.

We do not collect: names, email addresses, phone numbers, payment information, device fingerprints, or any other personal identifiers.

2. How We Use Your Data

• File delivery: To store and serve your uploaded files to recipients with the share link.
• Abuse prevention: To protect against automated abuse, spam, and denial-of-service attacks.
• Service improvement: Anonymous, aggregated statistics help us understand usage patterns and improve performance.

3. File Retention & Deletion

All files are temporary. When you upload, you choose an expiration period between 1 day and 1 week. Files are automatically and permanently deleted when:

• The expiration time is reached, or
• The download limit is exhausted (if one was set)

Once deleted, files cannot be recovered. We do not create backups, archives, or copies of user-uploaded content. Deletion is final.

4. Third-Party Services

FastShare integrates with the following services:

• Cloudflare: Provides CDN, DDoS protection, and Turnstile bot verification. Cloudflare may process request metadata (IP, headers) to protect the service. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
• Google Analytics: Collects anonymous, aggregated usage statistics. We use IP anonymization and do not enable user-ID tracking. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Object storage provider: Files are stored in a third-party cloud storage service. Files are encrypted at rest and access is restricted to authorized requests via time-limited signed URLs.

5. Cookies

FastShare uses minimal cookies. We set a single cookie to remember your cookie consent preference. Third-party services (Cloudflare, Google Analytics) may set their own cookies as described in their respective privacy policies.

You can manage cookie preferences in your browser settings at any time.

6. Data Security

We implement security measures including:

• HTTPS encryption for all connections
• Direct-to-storage uploads that bypass application servers
• Time-limited, cryptographically signed download URLs
• Encryption at rest for stored files
• Rate limiting and bot protection

7. Your Rights

Since we don't collect personal information or maintain user accounts, traditional data access/deletion requests don't apply. Files are automatically deleted on schedule. If you have uploaded content that you need removed before expiration, or if you believe content violates our terms, contact us.

8. Children's Privacy

FastShare is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has uploaded content, please contact us.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised date. Continued use of FastShare after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
