March 2026 Update: Faster Uploads, Better Security

FastShare Team

What Landed in March 2026

This release was one of our biggest platform upgrades. We reworked how files are uploaded and downloaded in FastShare to make transfers faster, more reliable, and more private. Here is a full breakdown.

Much Faster Uploads

Previously, every file you uploaded had to pass through our servers before reaching storage. That extra step slowed things down, especially for larger files.

Now, your files go straight to storage without that detour. The result: uploads are noticeably faster, particularly if you have a good internet connection. Our servers still handle the coordination behind the scenes, but your files take the fastest path possible.

Files Up to 2 GB Now Supported

We've raised the maximum file size from 128 MB to 2 GB. Behind the scenes, large files are automatically split into smaller pieces and uploaded in parallel — which means:

  • Bigger files — share videos, archives, and large projects without compression workarounds
  • Faster transfers — multiple pieces upload at the same time, making full use of your connection speed
  • Better reliability — if your connection hiccups, only the affected piece needs to retry, not the whole file
  • Real progress tracking — the progress bar shows exactly how much has been uploaded, not just a spinning icon

You don't need to do anything differently. Just drag in your file and FastShare handles the rest automatically.

No More Puzzles — Better Bot Protection

We've replaced the old CAPTCHA system (those "click all the traffic lights" puzzles) with Cloudflare Turnstile. It works invisibly in the background — no puzzles, no friction, and no data shared with third-party ad networks.

You'll barely notice it's there, but it still keeps bots and spam away from the service. Better protection and a better experience.

Faster Downloads Too

Downloads have been upgraded the same way. Instead of files being served through our servers, your browser now fetches the file directly from storage. This means faster download speeds and a more responsive experience, especially when lots of people are using FastShare at the same time.

The download links are temporary and tied to your specific session, so they can't be reused or shared by someone else.

Cleaner Look

We've cleaned up the visual design — removing a subtle background texture that was reducing readability across the site. Everything looks crisper now, particularly on blog pages and the upload/download screens.

Current Status

These upgrades are now part of the default FastShare experience. We continue improving sharing controls, mobile upload performance, and overall reliability.

If anything does not feel right with these changes, let us know. Your feedback helps us prioritize what to improve next.
